9/18/2012 - A Georgian man is very upset after his 6-yr-old family pet Labrador Retriever was shot and killed by police. In a rush to see his grandchild born, the man tripped the alarm in his home. He forgot his password so he told the alarm company, he'd wait for police. Police entered his home WITHOUT permission from the back (the man was waiting at the front). The dog, justifiably, became upset and barked at officers. So they shot him. And he died. I hope the man uninstalls his alarm system.

9/17/2012 - Once again, witnesses and police see two different things. Witnesses see a police officer shoot a dog from a long distance, killing him. Police claim the dog was a crazed monster trying to bite everyone in sight.

9/11/2012 - A 8-yr-old Golden Retriever hit by a police cruiser was shot at 7 times (some hitting) in a residential neighborhood. He died. The officer and a witness have two very different stories of what occurred - the officer claims the dog - who, mind you, he had just hit with a car - was charging him (the dog was safe in his own yard at this point, so the officer could have knocked on the door) "in circles". So obviously he killed the dog. The witness claims the dog was not acting as aggressively as the officer claims. Doesn't matter, the chief of police totes defends his officer.

9/9/2012 - I bet Blue, the blue heeler, in Flagstaff, Arizona, sure wished he was shot by police. Instead, he was hit by a cop car. Police officer gets out and, because he likes to clubs to death coyotes he doesn't kill with a gunshot, he thought hey! what a great idea. So he whacked the dog over the head multiple times with his baton. The dog did not die. He whacked him again. Not dead. He strangles the dog w/ a metal cord. No luck. Strangles him again until he finally dies. Oh yeah, did I mention a neighbor came out and said he knew where the dog lived and was told to just go back inside? Oh, and there is a 24/7 emergency clinic and everyone else is really baffled why the officers didn't take the dog to a vet. Owners find the dog at cold storage and are probably a little surprised. Officers didn't use guns because it was a residential area!

9/6/2012 - Since a dog didn't come through a fence hole "purring" (seriously, that word is used), an officer felt so threatened that he just had to shoot the dog four times, killing him. If only he had purred!

8/31/2012 - Fremont, Ca - An idiot teenage boy made up a story about a robbery and called police, who arrived at the home and encountered three loose dogs described as Pit Bulls. Officers retreated but the dogs pursued and one was shot.

8/28/2012 - Thornton, Colorado - An American Bulldog cross is dead after a police officer shot him. Police claim the dog was practically eating the officer when he shot the dog in the head. Other witnesses claim the dog was not. The family rushed their beloved pet to the vet, spent $1,000, and still lost their dog. No apologies forthcoming from police.

8/15/2012 - Des Moines, Iowa - Individuals called police because of a couple dogs running loose who kept getting out of their yard, "attacking" people. "Attack" has been redefined to "showing teeth and charging". Police arrived and herded the dogs into their yard. Despite being in their yard, when one dog "charged the fence", the officer shot her, an 8-yr-old Boxer mix. Have no fear, police are reviewing police.

8/14/2012 - Salinas, California - Three dogs running loose killed another dog running loose. Officers were dispatched. One dog ran at an officer, and no duh! the dog was shot and killed. Another of the dogs ran in the vicinity of officers and was killed as well. The third dog was captured.

8/18/2012 - Austin police wandered into a backyard where a leashed dog was located. The dog scratched/nipped the officer, and the officer responded by shooting the dog multiple times, killing him.

8/21/2012 - Lincoln, NE - While trying to find an individual who violated traffic laws, police arrived at the suspect's father's home. Two dogs got out and approached officers, barking. One dog, described as a Labrador Retriever, was subsequently shot but will survive. The other dog, a Pit Bull, ran off.

8/23/2012 - Riverside, CA - Police shot and killed a family pet (described as a Pit Bull) because the dog barked at officers when they entered the backyard setting up a perimeter search for a murder suspect. But hey, the officer is apologetic!
